Saïd Amzazi chairs a technical meeting focused on developing the sectoral development plan for the southern entrance of the Hay Mohammadi neighborhood.
To ensure comprehensive coverage of the Agadir municipality with next‑generation urban planning documents that align with the city’s current urban and development dynamics, Mr. Saïd Amzazi, Wali of the Souss‑Massa region and Governor of the Agadir Ida‑Outanane prefecture, chaired a meeting of the local technical commission on Thursday, May 21 2026, at the Wilaya headquarters. The commission is tasked with studying the proposed sectoral development plan for the southern entrance of the Al‑Mohammadi urban district.
The meeting was held in the presence of the director of the Agadir Urban Agency, the first vice‑president of the Agadir Municipal Council, as well as representatives of the various decentralized services, professional chambers and sectors concerned with this urban planning project.
The gathering marks the launch of the legal consultation process, in preparation for presenting the project to the public as part of a public inquiry, before its submission to the deliberations of the Agadir Municipal Council for final approval.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the various stakeholders to voice their opinions and propose recommendations in order to enrich the development vision and ensure the preparation of an operational and investment‑attractive urban planning document that responds to the major urban transformations underway in the city of Agadir.
The project covers an area of approximately 28 hectares and mainly aims to create a new urban centre in the Al Mohammadi neighbourhood, combining housing, services and facilities, while responding to the accelerated urban dynamism linked to the High‑Speed Line (LGV) project.
The project also aims to ensure harmonious urban integration with adjacent neighbourhoods, through improved accessibility and functional road connections. It also envisages the enhancement of the surroundings of the Grand Stade by developing complementary functions that incorporate leisure, services and urban animation, as well as the development of a green belt along the highway corridor, in line with the guidelines of the Grand Agadir Urban Development Master Plan.
Thus, this meeting represents the first stage of the legal consultations aimed at producing an operational and feasible urban planning document, taking into account the demands of urban expansion and the principles of sustainable development, within a context marked by profound urban changes affecting the city on multiple levels.
