Agadir hosts the fifth edition of the “Muhajir Festival” to celebrate Moroccans worldwide.

The Anza region in Agadir is gearing up to host the activities of the fifth edition of the “Migrants Festival,” scheduled for August 10‑16, 2026, a cultural, social and economic event aimed at strengthening ties between Moroccans worldwide and their homeland and supporting the dynamism of local development.

This session is organized by the Anza Association for Migration and Development, in partnership with the Agadir Community, the Souss‑Massa Regional Council and the Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans Residing Abroad, together with several other partners, as part of efforts to strengthen the participation of Moroccan community members in the Kingdom’s economic, social and cultural development process.

"Unity of Attitude and Strength of Belonging" is the session’s slogan

The festival’s management has chosen to hold its fifth edition under the slogan: “Moroccans from Around the World to the Homeland. Unity of Position and Strength of Belonging,” reaffirming the status of the Moroccan community and its role in defending national issues and enhancing the Kingdom’s influence in various international arenas.

According to a press release from the organizing association, the festival aims to build communication bridges with members of the Moroccan community, to consolidate values of citizenship and belonging, while also supporting the local economy and boosting the tourism appeal of the Anza region as an emerging coastal destination.

The annual event also seeks to highlight the role played by Moroccans abroad in parallel and soft diplomacy, and to leverage their skills and experience in service of the country’s development projects.

Seminar on Migration and Parallel Diplomacy

The fifth session’s program includes an intellectual symposium and extended meetings to discuss immigration issues and the importance of parallel diplomacy carried out by Moroccans worldwide to present Morocco’s positions and defend the Kingdom’s territorial integrity.

The timing of these activities coincides with the National Migrants’ Day, providing an opportunity to hear community members, discuss their concerns, and value their economic, social and cultural contributions.

Various Artistic and Cultural Activities

According to the announced program, festival activities will commence on Monday, August 10, at the Hajj Habib Cultural Complex in Anza, with flag‑raising, the national anthem and an intellectual symposium on immigration, followed by a reception for community members and an artistic evening.

Activities will continue from August 11 to 16 at Anza Corniche, featuring artistic evenings with local and national groups, alongside workshops parallel to the Traditional Industry and Regional Products Exhibition.

A showcase of traditional and local products will also run throughout the festival, aimed at highlighting the creativity of traditional artisans and local producers and supporting the region’s social and solidarity economy.

The program also includes a summer residency for Moroccan community members living abroad, as well as workshops, entertainment activities, and the honoring of several events.

A Space to Foster Belonging and Cross‑Cultural Fertilization

Organizers emphasized that the fifth edition of the Migrants Festival goes beyond a festive character, serving as a platform to promote values of fraternity, tolerance, cross‑cultural and linguistic fertilization, and to reinforce the bond of Moroccan community members with their identity and homeland.

The festival also aims to consolidate the cultural identity of the Anza region by encouraging creativity and innovation, alongside highlighting the area’s touristic and economic assets and strengthening its presence among the cultural events that marked Agadir’s summer.
