Agadir: Child Falls from Hotel Balcony in Sonaba District

A child of around three years old fell from the balcony of a hotel in the Sonaba district. The issue of safety standards in classified establishments has been raised again.

A child approximately three years old fell on the evening of Tuesday, September 2 2026, from the balcony of a classified hotel in the tourist district of Sonaba, Agadir.

The child was seriously injured and was immediately taken for emergency treatment; his condition was described as critical.

The accident raises questions about safety standards in hotel establishments, especially the protective measures on balconies and windows intended to prevent falls of young children.

The Sonaba district had already witnessed a fatal fall in August 2025, reigniting the debate over balcony maintenance and compliance with safety standards in classified hotels.

Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident and to assess whether the establishment complied with the required safety and prevention regulations. Official findings are pending.
