2026 Elections: Candidate Filings Redraw the Political Map of Souss-Massa

Seven local constituencies and 21 seats are at stake in the region. Submissions of candidate lists remain open until September 9, with the election set for September 23, 2026.

The filing of candidate lists for the legislative elections of September 23 2026 is now open in the Souss‑Massa region.

Calendar

The filing period runs from August 31 to September 9 2026 and includes two mandatory steps: an electronic submission followed by the physical delivery of documents to the regional authorities. The election campaign begins on September 10, with voting scheduled for September 23 2026.

The region’s constituencies

The Souss‑Massa region comprises seven local constituencies that together elect 21 parliamentary seats, plus one regional constituency. Among them are Agadir (4 seats), Inezgane (3 seats) and Chtouka (3 seats).

Candidates in focus

Incumbent ministers are running in the Taroudant constituencies, creating direct competition among parties of the governing coalition, including Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi and Transport Minister Abdessamad Kayouh.

As of September 3, Tiznit recorded six list filings within hours of the opening, while other constituencies showed varying rates. Nationwide, more than 1,000 candidacy declarations had been filed by September 1 2026.

Note: filing a candidacy does not guarantee its final acceptance. Electoral authorities must verify compliance with all legal requirements before validating the lists.
