An international observer praises the atmosphere of the vote in Agadir

Gambian observer Hannah Forster, executive director of the African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies, says the 23 September ballot took place in normal conditions.

Gambian observer Hannah Forster affirmed that the voting operation for the legislative elections held on 23 September took place in normal conditions, praising the atmosphere that accompanied citizens' exercise of their electoral right.

Ms Forster, executive director of the African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights, explained, in a statement to the Maghreb Arab Press agency in Agadir, that voters showed their enthusiasm for taking part, pointing out that the ballot took place in an atmosphere marked by calm and normality.

The Gambian official, who also chairs the steering committee of the NGO Forum, added that citizens exercised their constitutional right in good conditions.

In the Agadir Ida-Outanane electoral constituency, 685 polling stations were made available to voters, including 258 stations spread across rural areas.

In a related context, the special commission for the accreditation of election observers had accredited 26 non-governmental associations and national institutions, alongside 30 international bodies and organisations, with the participation of a total of 3,006 observers to follow the conduct of the legislative elections.
