On Monday, September 28, 2026, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of the Souss-Massa region hosted a meeting bringing together several economic and institutional stakeholders and a delegation from China’s Sichuan province. The event coincided with an exhibition showcasing some of China’s assets and products, as part of efforts to strengthen friendship and cooperation between Morocco and China.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss prospects for developing cooperation between the Souss-Massa region and Sichuan province, and to explore possibilities for new partnerships in the fields of the economy, trade, agriculture, investment, tourism and industry.
In his address, Saïd Dor, president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of the Souss-Massa region, welcomed the members of the Chinese delegation, stressing the importance of such initiatives in strengthening direct communication between economic stakeholders on both sides and promoting the region’s assets.
Saïd Dor said the meeting offered an opportunity to explore new areas of cooperation, exchange expertise and experience, and encourage companies and economic stakeholders to develop concrete initiatives and partnerships in the service of shared interests.
The activities were organized in coordination with, and with the participation of, the Sichuan branch of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Moroccan-Chinese Friendship and Exchange Association. This reflects the importance attached to strengthening communication and exchange channels between stakeholders and institutions in the two countries.
On the sidelines of the meeting, a Chinese exhibition was held at the Chamber. It showcased examples of products and assets specific to Sichuan province, allowing local professionals and stakeholders to gain a closer look at several of the province’s economic and cultural features and exchange views with members of the Chinese delegation.
The meeting was attended by Driss Bouti, president of CGEM Souss-Massa; Abdellah Boulghmayer, vice-president of the Agadir Municipal Council; the director of the Chamber of Agriculture of the Souss-Massa region; and several economic and institutional stakeholders.
The Chinese delegation comprised Liu Kuanqing, president of the Sichuan People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; Dong Guohua, head of the International Cooperation Department of the same association; Yang Guirong, director of the Economic Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Office of Aba Prefecture; Wang Gaofeng, deputy director of the Economic Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Office of Ya’an; Peng Yan, permanent vice-president of the Meishan People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; and Miao Lin, deputy director of the Sichuan Provincial Center for Cooperation and Friendly Exchanges.
Participants discussed ways to strengthen exchanges and open up new prospects for companies and economic stakeholders, particularly in sectors where the Souss-Massa region and Sichuan province possess assets and cooperation opportunities.
The initiative forms part of efforts to develop economic cooperation and institutional exchanges between Morocco and China. Such meetings provide a platform for direct engagement between stakeholders, while enabling them to explore investment and partnership opportunities and exchange experience and expertise.
The exhibition and parallel meetings also provided an opportunity to promote the economic and cultural assets of the Souss-Massa region and Sichuan province, thereby helping to strengthen ties between stakeholders on both sides and transform relations of friendship and cooperation into concrete initiatives with potential for further development.
