Agadir Port: ANP Prepares to Launch Cruise Terminal Project

The National Ports Agency has launched a MAD 17.88 million tender for the geotechnical survey of the future cruise terminal at the Port of Agadir, with bids due by November 12, 2026.

The project to create a dedicated cruise ship terminal at the Port of Agadir has reached a new stage, with the National Ports Agency (ANP) launching the geotechnical studies phase related to the project. This marks its transition to a more advanced stage of technical and engineering preparation, ahead of the construction of a maritime facility expected to strengthen the port’s position within the maritime tourism ecosystem.

In this context, the National Ports Agency announced a call for tenders for a geotechnical survey at the cruise terminal of the Port of Agadir, under reference 22/AOO/DIE/DG/ANP/2026. The ANP has set November 12, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. as the deadline for the submission of bids. The estimated value of the contract stands at 17.88 million dirhams, with a provisional bid bond set at 357,000 dirhams.

This call for tenders is particularly significant given the stage of the project it forms part of, as geotechnical studies and investigations are an essential prerequisite before moving on to the design and construction phases. The work is expected to determine the nature of the soil, the characteristics of the site and its suitability for hosting the terminal’s facilities, while providing the technical data that will underpin the engineering studies and help define appropriate construction solutions and standards.

This development is part of an effort to expand the Port of Agadir’s infrastructure and broaden its functions, in line with the changes taking place in tourism in the city and the region, particularly the growing interest in cruise tourism and the opportunities it offers to increase visitor flows and diversify the tourism offering.

Once the various phases of the project have been completed and implementation has begun, the creation of a dedicated cruise ship terminal would enable the Port of Agadir to receive such vessels under improved conditions and consolidate the city’s position on cruise itineraries, potentially enhancing its appeal to international cruise companies.

The project also has a dimension linked to enhancing Agadir’s waterfront and strengthening the complementarity between port infrastructure and the tourism sector, particularly given the proposed location near the Marina. This could pave the way for better connections between maritime passenger traffic and the tourism and service facilities located around the port.

Against this backdrop, the call for tenders launched by the National Ports Agency represents a key technical step in the project’s overall progress. The results of the geotechnical survey will provide more precise data on the site and on the requirements for constructing the facility, before the project moves on to the subsequent phases of detailed studies, design and construction.
