End of Drarga’s Commuting Nightmare: MAD 130 Million to Upgrade Its Main Road and Connect It to the Highway
Wali Saïd Amzazi launched the upgrading works on the main road running through the center of Drarga, covering approximately 6 kilometers, at a cost of nearly 130 million dirhams.
The wali of the Souss-Massa region, Saïd Amzazi, accompanied by representatives of the local authorities and elected officials, officially launched the upgrading project for the main road running through the center of the commune of Drarga, in the Agadir Ida-Outanane prefecture. The road links Tilat Izem to Aït Lfassi via Tagadirt, over a distance of approximately six kilometers, at an estimated cost of 130 million dirhams.
Hicham El Falah, director general of Al Omrane Souss-Massa, which is overseeing the works, said the project would be carried out to high standards in line with residents’ expectations. The works are expected to take around 18 months and will include upgrading sidewalks and green spaces, as well as all improvements that could enhance the comfort of residents and visitors to the area, which has become a major industrial hub after being selected to host the Industrial Acceleration Plan signed in the presence of King Mohammed VI in Agadir on January 28, 2018.
Mohamed El Ouanzari, second deputy mayor of Drarga, described the occasion as historic, following the long wait by residents who had grown weary of the deteriorating condition of the main road, which had caused numerous problems and accidents. Commending the efforts of all those involved in bringing the project to fruition, he said it would provide a significant qualitative boost to the area and strengthen its appeal amid the strong population growth the commune experiences each year.
