Agadir Al Massira Airport Welcomes Finnair’s First Flights from Helsinki

A new weekly Agadir–Helsinki air service operated by Finnair was inaugurated on Wednesday at Agadir Al Massira Airport, running throughout the winter season until the end of April 2027.

A new air route linking Agadir and Helsinki, operated by Finnish airline Finnair, was inaugurated on Wednesday at Agadir Al Massira International Airport.

A welcoming ceremony was held to mark the inaugural flight of the new route, attended by several officials and diplomats, including Finland’s ambassador to Morocco, Marianne Saal.

One weekly flight is scheduled from October 2026 through the end of April 2027, providing a direct air connection throughout the winter season and facilitating access to Agadir for Finnish visitors and other travelers from Northern Europe.

On the occasion, Ms. Saal said the launch of the route “illustrates the strengthening of relations between Morocco and Finland” and should help increase the number of Finnish tourists visiting Agadir and the Souss-Massa region. She noted that the opening of the route marks Finnair’s return to Agadir after several years of absence.

For his part, Abdelhak Chahli, vice-president of the Souss-Massa Regional Tourism Council, underscored the importance of the Finnish market for tourism in Agadir, stressing the central role played by the opening of new air routes in promoting tourism across the region.

In the same context, the Regional Tourism Council said in a statement that the inauguration of the route opens up development prospects for the coming seasons, with the aim of gradually increasing flight frequency and expanding air services to other cities in the Kingdom. It added that Finnair’s return is particularly significant for Agadir and the Souss-Massa region, as the Scandinavian market is one of the destination’s historic source markets.

The Council said the resumption of the route reflects the determination of regional stakeholders to rebuild lasting ties with this clientele and strengthen Agadir’s position in high-potential European markets. It noted that the return of the Finnish airline “represents a new opportunity to consolidate the historic ties between Agadir and the countries of Northern Europe, support the region’s tourism momentum and embed this route within a sustainable development vision” benefiting the entire Souss-Massa region.

In addition to strengthening air connectivity, the same source said, the route is expected to have a positive impact on the entire regional tourism ecosystem, as tourists from Northern European countries represent a significant opportunity for hotels, tourism operators, travel agencies, transport companies, and providers of leisure services and activities.
