Agadir at the Heart of Morocco’s Preparations to Host 2030 World Cup Matches
FIFA has included Agadir among the Moroccan cities slated for inspection visits next November and December as part of preparations for the 2030 World Cup.
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has included the city of Agadir among the Moroccan cities scheduled to receive inspection visits in November and December, as part of preparations for the final phase of the 2030 World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
The visits aim to assess the readiness of the stadiums and sports facilities bidding to host tournament matches, and to verify the extent to which they meet the technical and organizational standards set by FIFA.
In addition to Agadir, the planned visits will cover the cities of Casablanca, Fez, Marrakech, Rabat and Tangier. Evaluation operations will also extend to candidate cities in Spain and Portugal, with a view to finalizing the list of stadiums and host cities.
FIFA stressed that the final list has not yet been determined and that the stadium set to host the final has not yet been announced, pending the completion of the evaluation process and decisions on the allocation of matches among the host cities.
The process is part of ongoing preparations for an exceptional edition of the World Cup in 2030, which will coincide with the centenary of the competition. Three opening matches are scheduled to take place in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay to commemorate this historic occasion.
