Regional Forum on Educational Reform in Souss-Massa
On Thursday, the Souss-Massa region hosted the regional forum on the education and training system, a major assessment and foresight event that brought together more than 300 educational and institutional stakeholders, aiming to determine the outcomes of the implementation of the roadmap for the 2022‑2026 education system reform, and to discuss development prospects for public schools in the region in the next phase.
The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Souss-Massa Regional Agricultural Chamber under the slogan: “Results and prospects of the roadmap for the 2022‑2026 education system reform in the Souss‑Massa region”, as part of the participatory approach adopted by the Regional Academy of Education and Training, which aims to improve the quality of education and boost educational performance at the regional level.
The forum provided an opportunity to assess the achievements of the education reform, examine various initiatives that have contributed to improving basic learning, developing classroom practices and enhancing the quality of pedagogical delivery, as well as to diagnose the challenges faced and propose practical solutions to ensure the reform’s sustainability.
In the keynote address delivered by the representative of the Ministry of National Education, the importance of this event in measuring the on‑the‑ground impact of the reforms was emphasized, noting that the real challenge lies not only in strategic planning but in effective classroom implementation, which directly translates into learning quality and improved school performance.
For his part, the Director of the Regional Academy of Education and Training for the Souss‑Massa region, Idriss Wahi, confirmed that the forum aligns with the ongoing national drive to implement educational reform projects in accordance with royal directives and the requirements of Framework Law 51.17, stressing that the Academy has been actively involved in rolling out the roadmap programs through a collective mobilization of all stakeholders.
The regional official reviewed the most notable results achieved in basic learning, social support, school activities, cultural and sports life, as well as projects aimed at developing governance and strengthening the autonomy of educational institutions.
The forum’s activities also featured eight thematic workshops that discussed core topics, including pedagogical practices, educational governance, combating school dropout, primary education, continuing training, extracurricular activities and community partnerships, resulting in practical recommendations to improve performance quality and reinforce the principles of efficiency and transparency.
The event also honored several outstanding regional schools as part of a competition aimed at evaluating educational performance in leading institutions, with the goal of fostering innovation and excellence within the education system.
The forum concluded by presenting the workshop’s findings and general recommendations, which will serve as a practical basis to support the next phase of education reform in the Souss‑Massa region, aiming to build a higher‑quality, equitable and inclusive public school system capable of keeping pace with national development transformations.
